Trip Details
Turus Mara are offering our ‘Photography Special’ again in 2023 allowing photographers and those who want to maximise their opportunities of seeing the birdlife in the best light. This trip really takes the pressure off – giving the chance to capture the images you want. Although primarily aimed at the photography fraternity anyone who was really keen to see Lunga and her mesmerising inhabitants in the most laid back manner possible this may be the trip for you.
Most day boats to the islands depart by around four thirty in the afternoon leaving those ashore to a far more unique and personal experience in the late afternoon and early evening light.
Lunga is the main bird sanctuary in the area with many thousands of breeding birds during the season. Puffins are very personable – happily allowing visitors to approach within a few feet without any worries at all. Guillemots and razorbills abound around the Harp Rock sea stack with fulmars and kittiwakes nesting. Shags are easily photographed along the edges and around the Harp Rock. Others breeding in the islands include arctic and common tern, eider duck, greylag geese and great skua to name but a few. Atlantic grey seals also abound.
This trip runs per demand with photographers heading out on the regular day trip to the islands, then being picked up in the evening at an agreed time – usually between 8 and 9pm. For more info and to book this trip contact us by email or call 01688 400242.
